The World's Perfect Country Blues Song (a Parody)
The World’s Perfect Country Blues Song
(A Parody)
I came home tonight and found that my woman had gone
Wasn’t too surprised ‘cause my dog wasn’t barking on the lawn
She loaded up the bed, chest of drawers and the big-screen TV
Except for a broken-down couch, the trailer’s as empty as can be
She took my pickup truck, my hunting dog, my guitar and picks
That woman even took all my extra bags of trail mix
The repo man came, said he’s gonna take my trailer home back
Would’ve shot him but that durn woman has my gun and gun rack
(Refrain)
Oh Lord, I’m so lonesome
and my life is in a total fog
I can live without that woman..., but damn!
I sure miss my dog
Oh, yeah...yeah, yeah...I miss that dog

The original version of this song (to which I actually played bluesy music on the keyboard in 1991) was written as a joint effort by me and a dear friend who since passed away. I edited it extensively from the original version in an attempt to improve the rhythm. It was meant to be a parody of an actual song then billed as the world’s “best country western song.” I really hope any fans of country music reading this won’t take offense, but that genre lends itself so easily to parody it was impossible to resist. (Also, I must admit I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Classic Rock fan.) By the way, it's supposed to be funny, not politically correct.
Martin…this one’s dedicated to you, my friend.
